…becoming a solicitor I spent 6 years with Barclays Bank, which included a year in South Africa mduring the Apartheid era, as well as rowing for the Bank! I was a trustee of Barnwood House from 2004, and chairman of the Trust from 2008 until 2015 when I retired as a trustee. During this time we embarked upon the You’re Welcome 10 year community plan, drawing on the strengths and passions that people were willing to share with others. For me the decision to embark on the Trust’s new strategy was influenced by my experience as a trustee of BasicNeeds, and in particular the rural community I visited in Uganda. I started my (part-time) course at Bristol University in September 2015 and hope to finish with a dissertation during the summer of 2017. My home is immensely important to me, and my wife, Sue, and I are blessed with 3 adult children and 9 grandchildren who keep us on our toes.
