Tuesday, 26 July 2016 - 6:00pm

City Works
Alfred Street

Many community and voluntary organisations are looking to run local events in the summer months & into 2017; be it to celebrate the Rio Olympics, Tour of Britain or just an annual celebration within a community.

Active Gloucestershire love hearing about what goes on across the county, that so many people are getting active with friends and family whilst connecting with their community! As the county sports and physical activity partnership, Active Gloucestershire are often contacted for advice, information or suggestions around physical activity and sports for such events.

To offer our support we would like to offer a FREE workshop for those looking to run a community based event in the next 12 months.

Date: Tuesday 26th July
Time: 6pm-9pm
Venue: City Works, Alfred Street, Gloucester, GL14DF
Who it’s for: Volunteers, community organisations, local clubs or residents groups. Anyone wanting to know more about the Community Games (14 years+)
Cost: Free
Booking: Limited spaces so please book on asap. Please contact kirstydunleavy@activegloucestershire.org by Monday 18th July

The 3 hour workshop will look at:
• Event planning
• Ideas & inspiration from here & abroad
• Fundraising ideas
• Marketing & promotion
• How you show the impact you had

The Community Games is a national programme that uses the Olympics & Paralympics to spark the enthusiasm of community groups (of all ages & abilities!) to run an event for local people, celebrating the culture of their community. The Community Games offers promotion, information, resources and training for anyone that wants to access it. This will form the basis of the workshop with some Gloucestershire expertise thrown in, with opportunities to share ideas & ask questions. You can make your event an official Community Games too, to do this & for more info on the see: www.communitygames.org.uk
