Insight Gloucestershire'Outreach service in Cirencester
Insight Gloucestershire has an Outreach drop-in in Cirencester on Tuesdays from 10am – 1pm at Churn Good Neighbours, 14-16 The Waterloo, Cirencester GL7 2PY at the back of Argos.
I went along and tried out a handheld Ruby CCTV. This enables you to see a piece of paper magnified and with inverted colours, you can also take a screen shot (still photo) of what you are looking at and there is a handy handle to enable ease of use. They are a brilliant piece of kit which is reflected in the price. They also had other things on display including a larger button home telephone. There is lots of space with a big table and chairs if you want to sit down and discuss things or try out any of the devices. One of Insights representatives was also on hand to offer advice.
The Outreach service means people who have sight loss can go and talk about their sight problems with one of the Outreach trained team members with information about Eye health and Assistive technology and Benefits, Talking books/newspapers and social clubs, befriending and Computer lessons. Outreach also provides an emotional support.
