Sorry I missed your visit. You are often in my thoughts and there is never a day passes when the story of the chair in the tree is not shared.

Delighted you spotted the new piece, which is still under development..............I have already written the poem though. Do drop down again soon. Chris

Thanks for your kind comments, I was really surprised how much of a difference the change of diet made, with my condition things are never supposed to improve but I feel stronger and definitely have more stamina now.

Ana Biurrun 3 years ago

It does seem like a strict diet! I'm glad it helped to get your white blood cells back on track.
Looking forward to reading more about your progress and confidence acquisition. And as far as I know, 'divas' are always very talented people ;)

So impressive to take control of your own health in any way you can, although even that sounds small compared to other changes you are making to express yourself. I find accepting help is one of the hardest things as well.
Thank you as well for reminding me of the importance of the simplest things of friendship.

What is art?

Exactly, I guess this is why some Mediterranean countries have brightly coloured houses painted in different colours, brings life to a place, England is a bit dull, grafitti is all we have to brighten our towns up.

That's some impressive work, can't be easy working on such a big surface and getting such detail, I quite like graffiti, there's some nice stuff painted(?) along the Honeybourne line in Cheltenham, makes walking that way more interesting.

What an amazing piece of writing and thank you so much for sharing, it is so honest and beautifully written. I am sure many can relate to your story, from vulnerability comes huge strength and then we can take those next steps to replenish new growth.

Ana Biurrun 3 years ago

Thanks for this, Ellen. It's such a powerful post.
I think the metaphor you've chosen is so accurate and real. I like how it yet has a positive turn, 'I will still always know my bucket has a weak point, but I will fill it once again', which I think makes you very strong and self conscious. I guess sometimes it's easier not to elaborate on our thoughts and just continue as we are and that's one thing that makes your post so valuable.

Cyril Bunt 3 years ago

Thank you so much for sharing this with us all. It's a very brave and honest posting.

Hi Ellen could i just point out the 'Small Sparks' application to get a grant of up to £250 to help start of your amazing project.
it's only a suggestion, if you search 'small sparks' on the you're welcome website to find out more and i believe the Small sparks panel members would support a project such as this one.

very kind regards

Cyril

Wow, Ellen, thanks so much for being so open and sharing your brave story. I find it so full of powerful passages, I like how you describe kintsukuroi: 'it tells us to pause before we discard the broken pieces of our soul or sweep them under a metaphorical carpet out of embarrassment or mis-guided shame'.
Very touching story, thanks for letting us be inside your thoughts for a moment :) Can't wait to read more!

What a lovely story. I work for the British Red Cross and I'm currently running a project called Healthy Homes. We are offering a one-off free home visit to residents of Gloucestershire to give support and information to help them stay safe and warm in their homes over winter. Would any of your group members be interested? If so, send me an email at EllenDevine@redcross.org.uk and I'll send you more information.
I'm inspired to get knitting so I'm off to find a knitting pattern!
Best wishes,
Ellen
